Driver Crashes Into State Capitol Complex While Allegedly Under the Influence

CHARLESTON — A man, reportedly under the influence, crashed his vehicle into the West Virginia State Capitol complex on Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred when the driver struck Building 11, the Central Chiller Plant, located on California Avenue, according to Charleston Police. Authorities said the driver attempted to flee the scene but was quickly apprehended by Capitol Police.

Fortunately, there were no signs of significant damage to the building following the crash.
