Jane Lawson

Jane McClave Lawson, 83, of Elkins, WV, passed away on January 27, 2026. She was born July 3, 1942, the daughter of the late Charles and Ethel McClave. A graduate of Marshall University, Jane devoted her career to education, teaching for 32 years in Kanawha County Schools, and concluding her service at Dunbar Primary School.  She was known for her love of life, her family, and her joyful spirit. She is survived by her children, Shelby Lawson Dettinger (Karl) of Elkins, WV, and Kenneth Lawson of Breckenridge, CO; her grandchildren, Erin Dettinger of Elkins, WV, and Brennan Dettinger (Adrienne) of Albuquerque, NM; her brother, David McClave (Charla) of Teays Valley, WV; and her niece, Danielle Cummins-Hayes of St. Albans, WV. Jane was a passionate bridge player who formed many friendships in Elkins. She also loved tending to her flowers, laughing with friends and family, and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org.
