More Than 35,000 West Virginians Cast Early Ballots Ahead of Primary Election

CHARLESTON — More than 35,000 West Virginians had already cast ballots in the state’s May 12 primary election as early voting continued statewide this week.

According to figures released by the West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office, 33,138 voters cast ballots in person across all 55 counties during the first week of early voting, which began April 29 and continued through the following week.

County clerks had also received 2,441 absentee ballots by the end of the day May 5, bringing the total number of ballots cast to 35,579 entering May 6.

More Than 35,000 West Virginians Cast Early Ballots Ahead of Primary Election

West Virginia has 1,198,036 registered voters eligible to participate in the primary election.

Early in-person voting ended on Saturday at locations across the state.
